The Dumpsta Players’ annual PromTrash was not only its first show but the first among alternative proms in Philadelphia, encouraging audience members to compete with the actors for the title of Miss PromTrash, the opposite of anything ladylike. “As young high school queers, many of us had horrible, sometimes scarring, Prom experiences,” director Ricky Paul tells Behind the Green Room. “It’s a chance to take back your lousy memory and remake it into something more fitting.”

Held annually for 19 years, it’s fitting that PromTrash will be the last show of our residency at Bob & Barbara’s. Following is a list of all the PromTrash winners:
